Zombies galore

Remember Dawn of the Dead? The opening scene when the little girl jumped on the guys back and started chomping away at his neck? That's what this trailer reminded me of. What game? Dead Island!

Reading about this game it sounds like a Left 4 Dead meets Dead Rising 2 minus the Boomers. I actually am excited about this title.I love the Dead Rising series and zombies in general. There haven't been as much hands on coverage of the game so far but from what has been out there it looks great.



Dead Island is the story of paradise gone mad. It's set on the resort island of Banoi, a place where people go to take a break from the normal.

The game has you playing as one of four characters, each of which came to the island for different reasons. Interestingly enough the demo previewed has you playing as a one-hit wonder rapper by the name of Sam B.



The zombies in paradise come in 2 varieties. One more reminiscent of the George Romero zombies that move extremely slow and just want "BRAAAAAINNNSSSSS". The other more like the ones you've seen in Dawn of the Dead or Zombieland. They come at you fast and give you a split second to act.

The damage that can be done also play a great deal in the game's mechanics. Bones can be severed and joints can be dislocated or even popped off. Flesh will be able to be ripped off and muscles and bone will be shown underneath. The attention to these details are minor but bring realism to bodily damage. This will give you the option to slow down your enemies or render them lame by chopping off limbs or heads.



Expect this game to play out like a culmination of great zombie movies all in an open world game. Keep your eyes open for a late summer release.
